Clubs

One of the best ways to develop school pride and team spirit is to participate in our clubs.

We offer the following opportunities:

Ambassadors

Our group is on a mission to show the world how wonderful Hawthorne is.  We are the Ambassadors!

Book Club

Our group meets weekly to conduct novel studies.  We read a wide variety of popular fiction books.  Come READ with us!

Garden Club

Girls Empower

We meet weekly with the goal of promoting positive self-esteem and leadership in our girls.  Come be a part of something special!

Men of the Future

With weekly meetings, we strive to promote self-esteem in our boys.  Come and learn leadership skills you need to become the men our community wants.

Student Council

Details and Duties of Student Council Officers

Student Council offers fifth grade hawks the opportunity to actively participate in school wide initiatives, lend their hands to community causes, and see democracy in action.  While representing Hawthorne, these student leaders will gain responsibility, increased pride in their school and an overall awareness of events at a local and/or global level.  Class representatives, along with school officers, will be held to high academic and citizenship levels.

All members of Hawthorne's Student Council is expected to attend:

  • Fun Nights
  • Student Council meetings
  • Talent Show

Student Council Officers' Duties

President

  • Runs the Student Council meetings
  • Represents the council at various functions
  • Knows the basic rules for running a meeting
  • Is a good Hawthorne citizen

Vice President

  • Is a good Hawthorne citizen
  • Leads the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag
  • Knows the basic rules of running a meeting
  • Serves in the absence of the president

Secretary

  • Keeps accurate minutes of the meetings
  • Reports at each meeting the minutes of the previous one
  • Keeps attendance of all representatives at meetings
  • Is a good Hawthorne citizen

Treasurer

  • Keeps a written record of money earned and spent by student council
  • Is a good Hawthorne citizen

Classroom Representatives

  • Attend student council meetings
  • Bring ideas and suggestions from class members to the meetings
  • Report information back to his/her class and a Kindergarten - second grade classroom
  • Help with the development of projects for the student council and school
  • Help promote school pride
  • Is a good Hawthorne citizen
